Hi, I’m Laura.

I'm Laura Fonseca, MSW, LCSW, a therapist and the owner of Cornerstone Therapy.

I genuinely love getting to know people and understanding what makes them who they are. I'm naturally curious, pretty down-to-earth, and I tend to bring humor into the room when it fits. I'm not a therapist who is going to sit quietly and nod for an hour. I ask questions, make connections, offer another perspective, and want therapy to feel like a real conversation.

I'm also someone who wants to understand the why. Why does this particular thing feel so big? Why do you keep ending up in the same pattern? Why does something make perfect sense intellectually but feel completely different emotionally? I think our reactions usually make a lot more sense when we understand the experiences, relationships, and patterns behind them.

I've worked in the mental health field for more than a decade, with experience in private practice, schools, hospitals, and eating disorder treatment. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and child and adolescent psychodynamic psychotherapy through the Saint Louis Psychoanalytic Institute.

I opened Cornerstone Therapy in 2016. Over the years, it grew into a group practice, and today I've intentionally returned to a solo practice where I can spend more of my time doing the parts of this work I enjoy most: working directly with clients and supervising developing clinicians.
