How I Work
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
Therapy looks different for everyone because people come in with different experiences, personalities, relationships, strengths, and ways of moving through the world. I don't think there is one right way to do this work.
Some people come to therapy in the middle of something difficult. Others have been carrying something for a long time and are ready for it to feel different. Sometimes the work is about anxiety, relationships, or a major transition. Other times, it's harder to name. You just know that something isn't working the way you want it to anymore.
I think good therapy makes room for both reflection and real life. There are times when it helps to slow down and look at the bigger picture, and there are times when you need something practical that helps you get through Tuesday without your anxiety running the show. I think there is room for both.
My background is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, but I also pull from CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, and other approaches when they make sense for the person I'm working with. I don't have a formula that I use with everyone.
The goal isn't to do therapy a certain way. It's to figure out what you need, what feels important to you, and what will actually help you move forward.
