Our Story

While working as a school therapist in 2016, Laura Fonseca realized the lack of child and adolescent counseling resources outside of the school setting.  With the desire to help fill this void, she started Cornerstone Therapy and devoted her after school hours to counseling children and adolescents in the community.

Cornerstone Therapy, St. Louis child counseling practice

In 2020, when the world as we knew it was turned upside down with the arrival of Covid, the need for care, kindness, and support became more evident among children and adolescents.  They were forced to distance themselves from the people and routines that brought them comfort and balance, and they were expected to adapt in an uncertain world. Recognizing this uncertainty, Laura decided to expand the practice in order to help meet the evolving needs of the community.

Today, Cornerstone Therapy has developed into a counseling practice we are truly passionate about.  Our staff is made up of five therapists and one emotional support dog, and we continue to grow.

At Cornerstone Therapy, our mission is the same today as it was in 2016, to help children and adolescents build an emotionally healthy foundation. Growing up today can be difficult, and we are here to provide guidance and support along the way.
