Our Approach to Therapy
The Cornerstone Difference
At Cornerstone Therapy, the focus is on helping children, adolescents, young adults, and adults build a strong emotional foundation. Through a relaxed, person-centered approach and evidence-based practices, I work to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can grow, heal, and develop the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
Creativity and play are often woven into sessions with younger clients, helping them express themselves more freely and making the process feel engaging and accessible. For teens and adults, therapy offers space to explore emotions, understand patterns, and cultivate healthier ways of coping and relating.
I collaborate closely with clients and, when appropriate, their families to help restore balance and emotional well-being. By identifying unhelpful patterns and introducing tools for more grounded thinking and behavior, I support each person in gaining clarity, resilience, and a deeper understanding of themselves.
A Comprehensive Approach to Therapy
Every client is unique, and there is no single method that works for everyone. I draw from a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to tailor each session to your specific needs, goals, and experiences.
My training includes:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCT)
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
This integrated approach allows for flexibility, depth, and highly individualized care.
Olive is here to help!
Olive, my emotional support dog, plays a special role in creating a warm, calm, and comforting atmosphere in the office. Her gentle presence helps reduce stress, ease anxiety, and make it a little easier for clients to open up and talk about difficult feelings.
Despite being only five pounds, Olive has a big impact. She brings joy, comfort, and a sense of safety to many of the children, teens, and adults I work with, and she’s always happy to greet clients with a wag and a cuddle.
Her presence is optional, and clients who prefer sessions without Olive are always accommodated.
